Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday November 10 from depotlive.co.uk

Tom is currently riding high after the success of his chart-topping Number 1 third album, What Ifs & Maybes and a sold-out UK arena tour which included a trip to Cardiff. As his star continues to rise, demand has never been higher and fans are encouraged to buy soon to avoid disappointment.

Tom said: “Cardiff, I can’t wait! We had such an amazing time bringing the tour to the International Arena in March and now we’re going to have an unbelievable night in the shadow of Cardiff Castle.

“Let’s get together and have a party!”

Tom Grennan is a songwriter with a purpose, to embrace, encourage and lift listeners with lyrical positivity, brightness – and sky-scraping choruses to sing to the rafters. The release of What Ifs & Maybes secured his second UK Number 1 album, widespread critical acclaim and followed his first headline arena shows in the UK, including London’s iconic O2, and shows across Europe, selling more than 180,000 tickets.

The new album follows Tom’s breakthrough UK Number 1 record Evering Road, including platinum hits like ‘Little Bit Of Love’ and ‘By Your Side’, both Top Three in 2021’s most played songs. He has four UK Top 10 singles and three 2022 hits, including ‘Remind Me’ and ‘Lionheart (Fearless)’, all among The Official Big Top 40’s Biggest Songs of 2022.

Tom holds more than 1.3 billion streams and 9 million monthly Spotify listeners, and this year was nominated for the 2023 BRIT Award for Alternative/Rock Act, marking his third consecutive BRIT nod following Song of the Year for his international smash ‘Little Bit Of Love’, and Alternative/Rock Act in 2022.

The headlining show at Cardiff Castle is presented by promoters DEPOT Live and Cuffe and Taylor.

Nick Saunders from DEPOT Live said: “Tom Grennan is quite simply a force to be reckoned with. He is the man of the moment and I have no doubt this will be an absolutely brilliant night at Cardiff Castle.”

He joins indie music legends Manic Street Preachers and Suede who will play two consecutive sold-out co-headline shows at the historic venue, a double-headlining show from US alt rockers The Smashing Pumpkins and Weezer, and a headlining show from chart toppers chart toppers JLS, with more to be announced.

PAUL WELLER ANNOUNCES MASSIVE YORKSHIRE COAST HEADLINE SHOW

By Rhodes Media BlogsNo Comments

British music icon Paul Weller will play a massive headline gig on the Yorkshire coast next summer.

The legendary singer-songwriter brings his incredible and career-spanning live show to Scarborough Open Air Theatre on Sunday July 7.

Weller will not only be joined on the night at the 8,000-capacity venue by his own brilliant live band but by special guests Stone Foundation who will open the show.

Tickets go on general sale at 5pm on Friday November 10 via scarboroughopenairtheatre.co.uk

Paul Weller joins Fatboy Slim, Deacon Blue, JLS, Jess Glynne, Status Quo and Busted among the first headliners to be announced for Scarborough OAT’s 2024 summer season of shows, presented by Cuffe and Taylor.

Julian Murray, Cuffe and Taylor’s venue programmer, said: “Paul Weller is a true music icon, someone who possesses one of music’s most brilliant and diverse catalogues and an artist who remains ever relevant.

“This is going to be an incredible night here at Scarborough OAT – undoubtedly one of the highlights of the summer at this wonderful venue.”

Few artists have had as great an influence on the British music scene as Paul Weller.

As frontman of The Jam, he spearheaded the Mod revival in the late 1970s and early 1980s, scoring a string of hits before forming The Style Council and then embarking on a stellar solo career.

And the last few years have seen an incredible creative output. Weller’s 2022 compilation Will of the People, a mix of non-album rarities and an array of B-sides, remixes and live recordings, followed his stunning 17th solo album An Orchestrated Songbook.

Recorded with award-winning arranger Jules Buckley and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the album reimagined his vast catalogue including such classics as English Rose, Broken Stones, You’re the Best Thing, Wild Wood and You Do Something to Me.

It followed highly acclaimed Fat Pop: Volume 1 – his second Number One album in 12 months – which itself came hot on the heels of the success of fellow chart-topper 2020’s On Sunset.

Weller’s live shows remain the stuff of legend, mixing his unstoppable brand of hgh adrenaline rock with beautiful acoustic moments.

Special guests Stone Foundation are long-time friends and collaborators with Weller.

The 8-piece Midlands-based soul band recently celebrated an incredible 25 years of success with the release of the retrospective anthology Standing In The Light, which featured a number of songs with Weller on lead vocals. He has worked with them frequently across the last decade, on both the Stone Foundation catalogue and his own solo work.

Today’s tour announcement arrives on the heels of the 25th anniversary reissue of Fatboy Slim’s legendary album You’ve Come A Long Way, Baby.

First released in 1998, the album became one of the defining records of the 1990s, irrespective of genre. Swinging from hip-hop, to reggae and jangle pop, with this record Norman Cook broke stylistic ground and delivered a wildly original album, filled with imagination, huge hooks and infectious beats.

The album that spawned era-defining singles Rockafeller Skank, Gangster Trippin, Praise You and Right Here Right Now was bigger than just a dance album, You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby was a genuine phenomenon, enjoying huge critical and commercial success; reaching Number One in the UK album charts, it contains four UK Top 10 singles, and earned Norman a BRIT Award for best producer and two further nominations (Male Solo Artist and British Single) along the way.

The 25th anniversary reissue album has been remastered at half speed at Abbey Road Studios for the best available audio quality possible and is available to buy here.

Two decades after those historic, era-defining tunes and huge live gatherings, Fatboy Slim continues to push the envelope and remain one of the most in demand DJ’s and purveyor of quality beats in the world.

The incomparable live performer will take to the stage at the historic Yorkshire venue for a must-see headline show on Tuesday July 9.

Tickets go on general sale at 10am this Friday (October 27) via ticketmaster.co.uk

A creative virtuoso, his incredible live trajectory has seen the 29-year-old Londoner grace massive festival shows and venues across the UK 2023 for a tour which sold out in minutes, with the Wembley OVO Arena in London a career standout.

This was followed by a string of packed-out festival appearances over the summer, including a headline slot at Glastonbury’s West Holts stage, Primavera Sound and Reading and Leeds Festival.

DEACON BLUE ANNOUNCE UNMISSABLE DATE AT SCARBOROUGH OPEN AIR THEATRE

By Rhodes Media BlogsNo Comments

Scottish pop-rock greats Deacon Blue are bringing their unmistakable and era-defining sound to the Yorkshire coast for a massive outdoor show.

The Dignity and Real Gone Kid hitmakers – who continue to go from strength to strength – head to the 8,000-capacity Scarborough Open Air Theatre on Friday June 21.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday October 27 via scarboroughopenairtheatre.co.uk

Deacon Blue join pop superstar Jess Glynne, rock legends Status Quo and pop punksters Busted among the first headliners to be announced for Scarborough OAT’s 2024 summer season of shows, presented by Cuffe and Taylor.

Julian Murray, Cuffe and Taylor’s Scarborough OAT venue programmer, said: “Deacon Blue are right up there with the bands people have most requested we bring to Scarborough OAT – so we are delighted to oblige!

“They continue to thrive well into their fourth decade as one of British music’s most important and influential bands. They have written and recorded some incredible songs and albums down the years.

“They are winning rave reviews and playing to sell-out crowds on their current UK arena tour and we would advise fans to not hang around when tickets go on sale for the Scarborough OAT show this Friday.”

Thirty six years after releasing their iconic debut album, Raintown, Deacon Blue, last month, released All The Old 45s – The Very Best of Deacon Blue together with a career-spanning anthology box set You Can Have It All – The Complete Albums Collection.

Both new releases chart the band’s multi-million selling history – from bringing Chocolate Girl and Dignity to life in the corner of a Glasgow basement, to stadium-filling hits like Wages Day and Real Gone Kid, their swoon-inducing tribute to Bacharach and David I’ll Never Fall In Love Again and 2012’s The Hipsters.

“It feels like the right time to celebrate that; to release something that’s a true compilation of our music so far,” said songwriter and vocalist Ricky Ross.

“We’ve added so many songs, albums and EPs which have become a strong part of Deacon Blue and our live repertoire since The Hipsters.”

Ross, co-vocalist Lorraine McIntosh, Dougie Vipond (drums), Jim Prime (keyboards), Gregor Philp (guitar) and Lewis Gordon (bass) are now on the road breathing new life into well-loved songs.

And the response to their current arena tour has garnered a stream of fantastic reviews from press and fans alike, setting the scene brilliantly ahead of next summer’s must-see outdoor shows.

All The Old 45s – The Very Best of Deacon Blue, and You Can Have It All – The Complete Albums Collection are both out now via Cooking Vinyl.

CHART-TOPPER JESS GLYNNE BRINGS SUMMER 2024 TOUR TO THE YORKSHIRE COAST

By Rhodes Media BlogsNo Comments

Pop superstar Jess Glynne makes a long-awaited return to Yorkshire coast next summer for her THIRD unmissable headline show at Scarborough Open Air Theatre.

Chart record holder Jess – the only British female solo artist to ever score seven UK Number One singles – headlines Scarborough OAT on Saturday June 15.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday October 27 via scarboroughopenairtheatre.co.uk

Jess’s 2024 six-date outdoor UK Tour – which also includes a second Yorkshire date at The Piece Hall, Halifax, on Thursday August 8 – is set to be one of the hottest tickets for next year’s summer season.

Jess, who headlined Scarborough OAT in 2017 and 2019, said: “I can’t wait to get back on stage and go live for all my people! It’s gonna be a good year… let’s go!”

The news follows the recent arrival of her latest single Friend of Mine. The single comes after the summer banger What Do You Do?

Both brilliant singles mark a new and more personal chapter for the GRAMMY-winning singer-songwriter, who has delivered some of the most memorable dance-pop hits of the past decade.

Smashing her way into the nation’s consciousness as the vocalist on Clean Bandit’s 2014 smash Rather Be and Route 94’s My Love, Jess has since become one of the UK’s biggest acts with hits including I’ll Be There, Hold My Hand and Don’t Be So Hard on Yourself.

Her two previous Platinum-selling albums have both become Number One records and she collected three Ivor Novello nominations, won a GRAMMY, racked up nine BRIT Award nominations and 1.2 billion streams.

In 2022, the singer-songwriter brought in fresh management and switched record label to EMI, relocating to Los Angeles and honed a new, more vulnerable songwriting style with producers including Greg Kurstin (Sia, Adele), Emile Haynie (Lana Del Rey), Malay (Frank Ocean) and BOOTS (Beyonce).

They added to a tight, five-member writing team: herself, long-time collaborators Knox Brown and Jin Jin, plus grime musician Wretch-32 and Grammy-nominated producer P2J (Wizkid, Stormzy) and she took songwriting inspiration from the likes of Joni Mitchell, Amy Winehouse, Prince and more.

As Jess prepares her third album for release, she added: “It’s a pop record – I’m a pop girl. But there’s a lot of variety. The sound of the record is raw, honest, and vulnerable.”

LYTHAM FESTIVAL CREATES £9 MILLION BOOST TO THE FYLDE COAST ECONOMY

By Rhodes Media BlogsNo Comments

Organisers submit a licence application to see the event grow from 20,000 people per day to 25,000 people per day from 2024 onwards

Lytham Festival 2023 injected more than £9 million into the Fylde coast economy.

In an independent report published today, it is revealed the five-day festival in June created the massive boost for local and UK businesses.

Lytham Festival organisers Cuffe and Taylor jointly commissioned the survey of businesses, residents, visitors and contractors working at the festival with Fylde Borough Council to investigate the economic and social impact during the annual live music festival.

The overall feedback is that Lytham Festival does have a positive impact.

Headline figures from the report show Lytham Festival created income of £16.8million of incremental income for UK businesses this summer, equating to a gross added value of £9.2million. Of that, £3.8million was spent with businesses in Fylde and around £2.3million of that was spent on eating, drinking and shopping ahead of attending the events.

Hotels and accommodation also saw a boost, with 4,500 nights booked across Fylde borough and a further 10,500 room nights in Blackpool and other local areas.

Of the 41 Lytham-based businesses surveyed, an overwhelming majority reported either a very positive or positive impact on their trade, scoring the festival 9.1 out of 10 for being a ‘good thing for the area’.
Festivalgoers enormously support the event rating it 9.5 out of 10 for enjoyment and 57% of people living in Lytham agreed the festival is very good, while 60% of residents also said the atmosphere in Lytham during the festival was fantastic or enjoyable.

The report has today been published by organisers and the council to illustrate the positive effects the festival has on the local area, while recognising the views of a representative sample of the population of Lytham. The survey was carried out over a period of months in Lytham. Fourth Street, an experienced consultancy company carried out similar impact assessments across the UK, including a report for Glastonbury Festival. Fourth Street commissioned Market Research firm Spiral to carry out the data gathering.

Cllr Jayne Nixon, Fylde Council Lead Member for Tourism, Leisure & Culture, said of the report: “It is heartening to see such positive responses from people across Fylde in this independent impact assessment. The opinions of residents and businesses owners are immensely important to us, and this report both illustrates how fondly the festival is viewed locally and quantifies the financial benefits it brings to the borough.”

Welcoming the report findings, Cuffe and Taylor co-founder Peter Taylor said: “A report of this nature is invaluable to us. The economic impact of the festival is brilliant and to hear that local businesses are not only supportive but benefiting from the event is fantastic.

“In addition, to know that the majority of both residents and visitors support and enjoy our festival is great news.
“The report isn’t all about praise for the festival either, it does recognise the impact the festival has on residents’ lives. We believe the information provided in the report will provide a benchmark that will help our endeavours to address any inconveniences experienced by our neighbours and to look for and quantify continued improvements each year. With all reports and surveys of this nature it is important to take all points on board and we can use this to further enhance the Lytham Festival experience for residents, businesses and visitors alike.”

In addition to the independent surveys conducted during this summer’s Lytham Festival, Fylde Borough Council and Cuffe and Taylor jointly launched a Lytham Festival Residents’ Forum earlier this year to give local residents the opportunity to be part of a formal panel discussing all aspects of the festival. The forum has met twice already and members were invited to visit the festival site during the event this year to see the operation in action and discuss concerns directly with the organisers.

Following the granting of a one-year extension to the existing licence to 22,500 for two nights this year, Cuffe and Taylor have submitted an application to Fylde Borough Council’s licensing committee to extend the site capacity to a maximum of 25,000 per day for 2024 onwards, as well as agreeing a Park and Ride option for car parking that will take pressure away from the road infrastructure in Lytham.

Speaking about the licence increase for 2024, Cuffe and Taylor fellow co-founder Daniel Cuffe said: “We were able to demonstrate to the authorities this year that we could run a safe and well managed event for 22,500 people.

“Our improved partnerships with Blackpool Transport and Northern Rail to get the audience back home safely after the event worked well. We’re proposing to roll this out further in 2024 and, taking into account a larger capacity, add a Park and Ride scheme using land in St Annes to accommodate additional car parking numbers should our license application be successful.”

US ALT ROCKERS ANNOUNCE CARDIFF CASTLE DATE FOR 2024

By Rhodes Media BlogsNo Comments

US rockers The Smashing Pumpkins and Weezer are heading to Cardiff next summer for one of only five UK dates.

The multi-platinum, GRAMMY Award-winning, alternative rock pioneers will play a double-headlining show at Cardiff Castle on Friday June 14.

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday October 20 from depotlive.co.uk

The Smashing Pumpkins and Weezer are the latest acts to be added to the bill for what promises to be an incredible summer and follows announcements that will see indie music legends Manic Street Preachers and Suede play two consecutive co-headline shows at the iconic venue on Friday 5 and Saturday July 6.

When The Smashing Pumpkins first emerged out of Chicago in 1988, the world had never heard a band quite like them.

They spun together rock, pop, shoe-gaze, metal, goth, psychedelia, and electronic into a kaleidoscope of saccharine melodies, fuzzy distortion, bombastic orchestration, incendiary fretwork, eloquent songcraft, and unshakable hooks. Upon their formation, their sound was different, iconoclastic, and wholly new—and it still is today.

As a result, they’ve sold more than 30 million albums worldwide and collected two GRAMMY® Awards, two MTV VMAs, and an American Music Award. Their catalogue is highlighted by the platinum Gish [1991], the quadruple-platinum Siamese Dream [1993], diamond-certified Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness [1995], platinum Adore [1998], and gold Machina/The Machines of God [2000].

In 2018, they embarked on one of their most successful tours ever, the Shiny and Oh So Bright Tour, followed by SHINY AND OH SO BRIGHT, VOL. 1 / LP: NO PAST. NO FUTURE. NO SUN. 2020 saw the release of the band’s 11th full-length and latest double album, CYR.

Meanwhile, 2023 has so far seen the release of album ATUM, a rock opera presented in three acts, alongside a massive sold out North American tour. As prolific as ever, The Smashing Pumpkins are currently working on new music.

The iconic Weezer return to the UK following their stint on the Hella Mega sold-out stadium tour, the release of their innovative quartet of EPs SZNZ in 2022 and a massive sold-out headline US tour.

Weezer’s music has been streamed billions of times with the band selling more than 10 million albums in the U.S. and more than 35 million records worldwide since their debut album’s release in 1994. Their catalogue has included such megahits as ‘Buddy Holly’, ‘Undone (The Sweater Song)’, ‘Say It Ain’t So’, ‘El Scorcho’, ‘Hash Pipe’, ‘Island In The Sun’, ‘Beverly Hills’, and ‘Pork and Beans’.

Their headlining show at Cardiff Castle is presented by promoters DEPOT Live and Cuffe and Taylor.

Nick Saunders from DEPOT Live said: “This will be an unforgettable night featuring two legendary bands; it’s another indication of the incredible summer we have to look forward to at the Castle next year.”

Cuffe and Taylor co-founder Peter Taylor added: “Cardiff Castle is going to rock! The Smashing Pumpkins and Weezer are two hugely successful acts who will bring an incredible show to this beautiful location.”

MANIC STREET PREACHERS & SUEDE ADD SECOND DATE FORCARDIFF CASTLE

By Rhodes Media BlogsNo Comments

Manic Street Preachers and Suede will play a second date at Cardiff Castle next summer.

Last week it was announced the indie music legends will play a double headlining show at the iconic venue on Friday July 5 and now, due to overwhelming demand for tickets, a second date has been added which will see a further show on Saturday July 6.

Tickets to both shows go on general sale at 9am on Friday October 13 from depotlive.co.uk

The headlining shows are presented by promoters Depot Live, Cuffe and Taylor and SJM Concerts.

Nick Saunders from DEPOT Live said: “As we saw with Tom Jones over the summer, the Welsh love to back their own – and with Suede as laudable co-headliners alongside Manic Street Preachers, it’s really no surprise the demand has been so high.

“We would hate to disappoint fans so we’re thrilled to be able to add a second date to ensure we have two amazing nights here at Cardiff Castle.”

Cuffe and Taylor co-founder Peter Taylor added: “We knew announcing Manic Street Preachers and Suede would be popular but the demand for tickets has been incredible so we are delighted to be able to add an extra date at Cardiff Castle.

“These shows will be a highlight in the Cardiff calendar next summer and we can’t wait.”

The two shows mark a triumphant return for the Manic Street Preachers to Cardiff Castle after they last headlined at the venue in 2019 as part of their 20th anniversary tour celebrating the release of their 1998 number one album, This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours.

Manic Street Preachers are one of the most influential and iconic rock bands to have come out of Wales. They have gone on to release 14 studio albums and have headlined countless festivals including Glastonbury, T in the Park, V Festival and Reading & Leeds. They have won eleven NME Awards, eight Q Awards and four BRIT Awards and were also nominated for the Mercury Prize and the MTV Europe Music Awards.

Manics are currently working on their 15th studio album, the follow up to ‘The Ultra Vivid Lament’ which entered the UK charts at No. 1 on its release in September 2021. They last performed in the UK this summer when they made critically acclaimed performances at Isle of Wight and Glastonbury festivals.

The news of the tour meets huge demand surrounding the success of Suede’s ninth studio album Autofiction, and their entirely sold-out UK headline tour earlier this year. Debuting at #2 in the UK Albums Chart, the release marked Suede’s highest charting LP since 1999’s Head Music. The new album has been received as a career peak by fans and critics alike.

2023 has seen the release of Suede30 – timely reminder of how the band’s debut album had such a powerful and transformative effect on British music from the outset. Suede’s eponymous debut shot to #1 in the UK Album Charts upon its release selling over 100,000 copies in its first week, winning the prestigious Mercury Music Prize and becoming the fastest-selling debut album ever in the UK at that time.

Suede and the Manic Street Preachers’ Cardiff show is part of a UK and Ireland tour that follows a sold out 2022 US tour that saw both bands greeted with a fantastic reception.
