THE CURE ANNOUNCE MASSIVE HEADLINE SHOW IN CARDIFF

By Rhodes Media Blogs, UncategorizedNo Comments

British rock legends The Cure have today announced a massive headline show in Cardiff for Summer 2026.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees and double BRIT Award winners will play Blackweir Fields on Wednesday June 24.

Fans can sign up for next Thursday’s 10am pre-sale via blackweirlive.com/thecure with tickets going on general sale, at 10am, Friday October 17 via blackweirlive.com and ticketmaster.co.uk

The Cardiff date will be one of The Cure’s first UK show since the release of their Number One album ‘Songs of A Lost World’.

They then play shows in Dublin, Belfast, Manchester and Edinburgh – alongside a headline set at the Isle of Wight Festival in Summer 2026.

The Cure will be joined at Blackweir by special guests The Twilight Sad and The Joy Formidable with both acts personally chosen by frontman Robert Smith.

Formed in Crawley, Sussex, The Cure played their first show in 1978 and have now performed around 1,800 concerts to date.

The band has released 14 studio albums – including such acclaimed works as Pornography, The Head on The Door, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Disintegration and Wish – along with more than 40 singles.

The 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Famers have had 13 members in 47 years. The 2026 will feature five of them – Robert Smith (Voice & Guitars), Simon Gallup (Bass), Jason Cooper (Drums), Roger O’Donnell (Keyboards) and Reeves Gabrels (Guitars).

The Cure join a Blackweir line up which will already see a headlining show from US vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, GRAMMY Award-winning rapper Pitbull and two headlining shows from Scottish superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Launched earlier this year, Blackweir is Cardiff’s new live music hotspot in a partnership between DEPOT Live (the live-events arm of Cardiff music venue, DEPOT) and UK promoters Cuffe and Taylor.

Nick Saunders, founder of DEPOT Live said: “This is a massive coup to bring the legends that are The Cure here to Blackweir. When we first announced we would be hosting shows here at this incredible location The Cure were top of many people’s wish lists, so we are absolutely delighted to be making a lot of people very happy with this announcement.

“The Cure are the soundtrack to so many people’s lives, they have been one of the world’s biggest bands for more than 40 years, so it does not get much bigger and better than to be welcoming them to Cardiff and Blackweir Fields next summer.”

PITBULL IS BACK WITH HUGE SOUTH WALES PARTY

By Rhodes Media BlogsNo Comments

GRAMMY Award winning international superstar rapper, singer, songwriter and actor Pitbull will bring the ultimate party to Wales as he headlines Cardiff’s Blackweir Fields.

With billions of audio streams and video views, along with hundreds of gold and platinum certifications, Pitbull’s career stands as one of the most impressive in music history and he is now bringing his I’m Back Tour to Cardiff on Saturday July 4.

Fans can sign up for Thursday’s midday pre-sale via blackweirlive.com/pitbull with tickets going on general sale at midday Friday via blackweirlive.com and ticketmaster.co.uk

Pitbull, aka Armando Christian Perez, is affectionally known as Mr Worldwide. Earlier this year fans caused a viral storm during his high energy European tour with tens of thousands of them wearing bald caps and dubbing themselves “The Bald E’s” in honour of his signature look and larger-than-life persona.

With the I’m Back! Tour Pitbull guarantees to continue to celebrate this culture and bring the unstoppable pure party energy for fans. Set to be on an even bigger stage with highly stunning visuals, explosive pyrotechnics, and Pitbull’s signature performance. With a fusion of music, lights, and special effects—alongside his band, The Agents, and dancers, The Most Bad Ones—the show will deliver an unforgettable, one of a kind high-energy party for everyone to enjoy.

An international superstar, education ambassador, entrepreneur, and motivational speaker, Pitbull does not stand still. Aside from global success with hits including Fireball, Hotel Room Service, Give Me Everything, Timber and Don’t Stop The Party, beyond music he has built a diverse and expanding business portfolio.

His signature “EEEEEEEYOOOOOO” grito (yell) is one of fewer than 40 sound trademarks protected by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He recently made history by partnering with Florida International University to rename its football stadium Pitbull Stadium, and he is also a passionate advocate for education.

Last year Pitbull teamed up with rock legends Bon Jovi for the powerful track Now or Never, blending his signature high-energy sound with the band’s anthemic rock style. The unexpected collaboration quickly gained global traction, further proving Pitbull’s ability to transcend genres and generations.

With no signs of slowing down, Pitbull continues to push boundaries and inspire millions around the world, leaving a profound cultural impact and cementing a legacy that spans entertainment, business, education, and beyond.

Pitbull joins a Blackweir line up which will already see a headlining show from US vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims and two headlining shows from Scottish superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Launched earlier this year, Blackweir is Cardiff’s new live music hotspot in a partnership between DEPOT Live (the live-events arm of Cardiff music venue, DEPOT) and UK promoters Cuffe and Taylor.

Nick Saunders, founder of DEPOT Live said: “Pitbull presents the ultimate party so where better to bring that than Cardiff. This will be an unmissable night filled with hit after hit and with the phenomena created around his shows earlier this year, we expect to see a lot of bald caps in honour of Mr Worldwide.

“Adding Pitbull to our line up alongside Teddy Swims and Lewis Capaldi makes for a very strong line up for Blackweir 2026 and we still have more announcements to come!”

DAVID GRAY TO BRING WORLD TOUR TO UK WITH SPECIAL GUESTS THE DIVINE COMEDY

By Rhodes Media BlogsNo Comments

Following his headline Legends set at Electric Picnic, David Gray announces a brand-new summer run of UK & Ireland dates for 2026.

David brings his Past & Present World Tour – joined by special guests The Divine Comedy – to:

June 4 TK Maxx presents Scarborough Open Air Theatre
June 5 TK Maxx presents Live The Piece Hall
June 26 TK Maxx presents Live at Llangollen Pavilion
June 28 TK Maxx presents Live at Lincoln Castle
July 11 TK Maxx presents DEPOT Live at Cardiff Castle

The Past & Present World Tour has already seen David sell out 68 shows across the USA, Australia, UK and Ireland in 2025, including landmark nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall, Glasgow’s SEC Armadillo, Manchester’s O2 Apollo and Dublin’s 3Arena. His Electric Picnic set marked another milestone in support of his widely praised new album Dear Life (out now via Laugh A Minute Records/Secretly Distribution).

David said: “We’ve had the most amazing tour this year, from the opening night in Boston to the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, and then on to the Royal Albert Hall in London and the 3Arena in Dublin.

“These have been some of the most memorable and magical shows of my entire career. We’ve pushed ourselves as a band but it’s been richly rewarding and SO MUCH FUN! When everyone is in such fine form it would seem wrong to stop the ball from rolling – so with that in mind I’m delighted to announce a string of further dates for the summer of 2026. Exciting times!”

David Gray’s story is unlike any other. He spent almost a decade striving to make a breakthrough, and when it happened it did so in the biggest way imaginable as White Ladder became one of the best-selling British albums of recent decades and established him as an arena-filling artist.

As the years have passed, his songcraft has only deepened — his natural ability to convey specific emotions, atmospheres, or, as heard on his acclaimed 2021 album Skellig, a sense of place, has positioned him firmly in the lineage of classic poetic singer-songwriters. While the likes of Ed Sheeran, Adele and Hozier have acknowledged his influence, Gray has continued to follow his own artistic path.

The response to Gray’s 13th album Dear Life has been extraordinary. Produced by Ben de Vries, critics have hailed it as “a brooding triumph” (Telegraph), “his most confessional and emotive work to date” (Clash), and “a slow-burner that catches fire” (Mojo). The album has also drawn comparisons to Gray’s multi-platinum White Ladder — “the sonic DNA of White Ladder is present here” (Rolling Stone) and “his poppiest and most successful album since White Ladder” (Music OMH). His artistry as a songwriter has also been singled out — “this 13th album confirms Gray’s not lost his touch” (Guardian) and “a soulful collection of richly poetic songs about love, change and mortality” (Independent).
