Queen of cruising Jane McDonald is chartering her own ship for fans to join her on an exclusive week on the high seas.

Sail Away with Jane McDonald will see everyone’s favourite cruise star charter Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas in September 2020.

Jane’s exclusive charter of the ship will allow passengers an unprecedented Jane McDonald experience including guaranteed entry to see Jane perform two different exclusive headline shows, a one-of-a-kind ‘Audience-With’ event and a seven-night holiday.

Sail Away with Jane McDonald is a Southampton round-trip visiting Cherbourg, Vigo and Lisbon and cabins on this exclusive cruise can be secured by accessing the exclusive online pre-sale

Speaking about Sail Away, Jane said: “I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to be having my own special cruise.

“As everyone knows, I’m just a true Yorkshire lass who loves performing and enjoying a cruise or two, so it makes perfect sense to charter my own ship.

“This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time so to finally have the opportunity to invite everyone to come on holiday with me is very exciting.

“We’ll have a whale of a time and I can’t wait to see everyone there.”

Jane McDonald won a place in the nation’s hearts and became an instant star in the BBC’s documentary series The Cruise back in 1998.

Since then Jane has toured extensively and released 8 studio albums. While Jane has made a couple of one-off performances on cruise ships, Sail Away will be the first time everyone’s favourite cruise star has chartered a ship for her own dedicated cruise.

As well as seeing Jane perform during the cruise, passengers will also get to enjoy a special ‘Audience With’ event where Jane will be interviewed live on stage about her life and career.

And if that isn’t enough, Jane will be onboard for the duration of the cruise making special appearances throughout the ship.

Sail Away with Jane McDonald departs Southampton 20 September, 2020. Passengers will enjoy Royal Caribbean’s luxurious Anthem of the Seas with full board dining and amazing features including the incredible Bionic Bar – where you can order cocktails mixed by robots, the FlowRider surf simulator, the signature Royal Caribbean Rock Wall, SeaPlex – the largest indoor active space at sea, RipCord by Ifly – the first skydiving experience at sea and North Star, providing  360-degree views 300 feet above sea.

His new and exciting show Kojo Anim Presents The Taxi Tour will take in 26 towns and cities across the country, launching at Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre on Thursday, February 6.

Born in Ghana, Kojo moved to London as a child and grew up in Hackney – and he’ll be returning to home territory for the final show of the tour at Hackney Empire on Friday, March 20.

Kojo is here to make the world laugh, sharing his funny observations and stories about life, parenthood and family.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, June 28 at 10am from

With his infectious smile, and winning routines, Kojo Anim wowed the judges and audiences on Britain’s Got Talent.

Simon Cowell was so blown away by Kojo’s first audition routine he hit his golden buzzer to send him straight into the live semi-finals, saying: “I don’t really like comedians on this show… But I love you!” That first BGT performance alone has had more than 23 million views on YouTube.

Speaking about his BGT experience, and now announcing his debut UK tour, Kojo said: “For me, Britain’s Got Talent wasn’t about winning £250,000, it was a chance to get in front of the judges, and to prove to myself that I can perform in front of anybody.

“My goal was to make it to the final, and now here I am – announcing my first solo tour, something I’ve been working towards for 20 years.

“Since my first audition when Simon pressed the golden buzzer, my whole life has changed and now I can’t wait to jump in a taxi to travel the country making people laugh.”

The former BT customer service employee from Hackney, East London, has previously worked with American stand-up stars Kevin Hart (Wembley Arena, 2014), Dave Chappelle (UK tour, 2015) and Chris Rock and was a hit on NBC series Last Comic Standing in America in 2008.

Previous TV work includes CBBC show The Mighty Truck Of Stuff with Reggie Yates and MTV Base show The Fresh Prince Of Hackney. He has also hosted the breakfast show on radio station Capital XTRA.

Ward Thomas, Seafret, Lewis Watson, Saint Raymond and Charlotte join Lewis Capaldi for sell-out dates

By | Rhodes Media Blogs | No Comments

Chart topper Lewis Capaldi will be joined by some of the UK’s finest emerging talent when he plays two sell-out dates at Scarborough Open Air Theatre this summer.

Lewis – whose debut album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent has topped the UK Album charts for the last four weeks – will play the UK’s largest open-air arena on Saturday July 20 and Friday August 30.

General admission tickets for both dates have now sold out.

The 22-year-old singer songwriter, whose sensational double platinum-selling single Someone You Loved has been a hit around the globe, will be joined in July by Ward Thomas, Saint Raymond and Charlotte and by Seafret, Lewis Watson and Charlotte again when he takes to the Scarborough OAT stage again in August.

British Country-Pop duo Ward Thomas – 24-year old twin sisters Catherine and Lizzy – made history when their second album Cartwheels became the first country record by a British act ever to top the UK album chart.

Fresh from their own UK headline tour, and off the back of their European dates with Jack Savoretti, Ward Thomas have just released the video for the heartbreakingly beautiful new single One More Goodbye which is taken from their third hit album Restless Minds.

Yorkshire’s very own Seafret – who are Jack Sedman and Harry Draper – have won legions of devoted fans and critical acclaim since the release of their 2016 debut album Tell Me It’s Real. The Bridlington duo released their fourth EP last year which featured the singles Monsters and Can’t Look Away and are currently working on their second album.

Oxford-based singer-songwriter Lewis Watson has toured the world and seen his songs streamed more than 200 million times. His new single Meant For Me is a beautiful taster of what to expect from his forthcoming third album on which he has collaborated with producer Richard Wilkinson (Honne, Rhys Lewis, and Kaiser Chiefs).

Saint Raymond – singer-songwriter Callum Burrows – returned late last year with his sensational single Echoes. Having previously been the opening act for Ed Sheeran, Saint Raymond boasts melodic anthems that pack a punch from infectious choruses and lyrics that address the poignancy and euphoria of life.

Hull-born soul singer and songwriter Charlotte is playing both the July and August dates. This hugely talented 21-year-old’s debut EP Nowhere To Hide saw her work with world renowned producers Toby Gad, and The Orphanage (Kehlani, Alessia Cara and Demi Lovato).

Mesmerising songs such as Nervous, Somebody To Hold, I Tell Lies and Just Me showcase a truly unique talent that is already being tipped as one of the most exciting new artists of the year.

Racecourse unveils stunning new restaurant and conference facilities

By | Rhodes Media Blogs | No Comments

Carlisle Racecourse has unveiled its sensational new restaurant and conference facilities ahead of the UK’s most historic race meeting.

The Jockey Club has invested a six-figure sum to transform Swifts Restaurant and The Patterson Suite – situated in the course’s main Grandstand – into a magnificent multi-use venue that provides an exclusive and unrivalled experience for guests.

Boasting a contemporary and stylish design, with all-new state-of-the-art multi-media facilities, the refurbishment has been completed ahead of this month’s famed Carlisle Bell and Cumberland Plate meeting.

The origins of this meeting, which is held on Wednesday June 26, can be traced back to 1599 and the days of Queen Elizabeth I.

And while Cumbria’s premier racecourse is steeped in history, its new facilities – which are available for weddings, private parties and conferences on non-race days – are unashamedly modern, bright and luxurious.

This VIP area has its own viewing balcony which allows racegoers to watch horses thunder down the home straight in front of the beautiful panoramic backdrop of rural Cumbria.

Molly Dingwall, Carlisle Racecourse’s General manager, said: “The new restaurant facilities are fabulous. We opened them for the first time to racegoers at our last meeting and the feedback we have received is fantastic.

“The fit-out is of the highest standard and we truly believe we have created something to wow both racegoers and those who use the facilities for conferences, business meetings, weddings and private parties.

“We offer a wonderful culinary experience here at the racecourse and, following these improvements to our facilities, we now have one of the best hospitality and conference spaces in Cumbria.

“There is a brilliant summer in prospect at the racecourse. We have our historic Bell and Plate meeting on June 26 – when some of racing’s top stars compete for the world’s oldest sporting trophy – followed by some hugely-popular social events.

“And it goes without saying, we cannot wait to show off our new restaurant facilities to racegoers.”

Carlisle-based Black Box Architects designed the all-new restaurant facilities and the refurbishment was carried out by Lambert Gill.

Racing returns to Carlisle with an evening meeting on Tuesday June 11 and afternoon racing on Monday June 17.

Following the Bell and Plate meeting – which includes Carlisle’s richest flat race The Eternal Stakes – there are two music events. Pop star Sigala takes to stage after racing on Saturday July 6 and then the annual Ladies Night, with a post-racing DJ set by TV star Gok Wan, on Monday August 5.

Superstar rock trio Biffy Clyro will be joined at Scarborough Open Air Theatre by the incredible Ghostpoet.

Biffy play the UK’s largest open-air arena on Friday June 14 – their only mainland UK live date this summer. The show is an exclusive warm-up before the band embarks on a series of headline appearances across Europe, including the Isle of Wight Festival.

And they will be supported at Scarborough Open Air Theatre by Ghostpoet.

Twice nominated for the coveted Mercury Music Prize, Ghostpoet (aka musician Obaro Ejimiwe) proudly sits outside a single style. He has united fans across genres since his sensational 2010 debut album Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam and 2013 follow-up Some Say I So I Say Light.

After receiving widespread recognition for the beat-driven arrangements of his first two albums, third LP Shedding Skin initiated a more alt-rock sound that saw Ghostpoet Mercury-nominated for a second time.

2017’s critically acclaimed Dark Days + Canapés, which includes the stunning single Immigrant Boogie, again served to increase this widely revered artist’s fanbase.

Headliners Biffy Clyro have won no fewer than four NME Awards, four Kerrang Awards as well as being nominated for Best British Group at The BRITS twice.

They are no strangers to huge stages – headlining Reading and Leeds festivals last summer – and have played to massive sold-out crowds all over the world in the last decade.

They delighted fans last month with the release of their self-penned soundtrack for the Jamie Adams-directed movie Balance, Not Symmetry, which debuts at Edinburgh International Film Festival on June 23.

Tickets for Biffy Clyro and Ghostpoet at Scarborough Open Air Theatre show are on sale now via or in person from Scarborough Open Air Theatre Box Office (01723 818111) and the Discover Yorkshire Coast Tourism Bureau (01723 383636).
