Kim Wilde hits the road for 2018 UK tour

By | Rhodes Media Blogs | No Comments

Kim Wilde’s 2018 UK Tour hits the road over the next month – and the pop icon cannot wait to step onto the stage.

The multi-award-winning artist – who has sold more than 30 million records worldwide – has just released her critically acclaimed 14th studio album Here Come The Aliens.

Packed with modern pop classics – such as ‘Pop Don’t Stop’ and new single ‘Kandy Krush’ – the album is now followed by Kim’s first full UK tour since 1982.

And Kim says she is thrilled to be bringing the all-new show, which mixes her sensational new material with her hit-packed back catalogue, to fans across the UK.

Kim said: “I am really excited to be going out on the road – my first UK tour in more than 30 years!

“Myself and my band want to put big smiles on everyone’s faces, and make it a night they won’t forget, and to thank the public for all their love and support over so many years.

“I love to sing and share our music with the crowd, those moments are incredibly rare and precious, and we all know how lucky we all are to have this as our job and savour every moment we’re on stage!

“We have all grown up together and shared a chunk of life and survived it with our sense of humour intact, now that’s something that deserves to be celebrated.”

Kim will appear with a seven-strong band which features her brother, and ‘Here Come The Aliens’ producer Ricky Wilde on lead and rhythm guitar alongside guitarist Neil Jones. Paul Cooper (bass), and drummers Jonathan Atkinson and Emily Dolan Davies are joined by Stevie Power (keyboards) and Scarlett Wilde (backing vocals).

As for what fans can expect from the show, Kim added: “It’s a combination of old classic hits and, of course, songs from the new album including ‘Pop Don’t Stop’ and our latest single ‘Kandy Krush’, although we have extended and rearranged them for extra impact!

“We’ve added a few rare tracks that should delight faithful fans as well as fitting in perfectly with all the new songs. It is just how we wanted the new tracks to work, to accompany and compliment the old hits while bringing fresh new energy and creativity to them.

“On another creative note I have enlisted the talent of Christopher Wilmer, a costume designer and stylist I discovered in 2013 while making a video. Chris has come up with some quite astonishing costume ideas for this tour which should have the camera shutters exploding with activity as soon as I hit the stage!”

With such a stellar back catalogue, which includes the smash-hits ‘Kids in America’, ‘Chequered Love’, ‘Cambodia’, ‘If I Can’t Have You’, ‘You Keep Me Hangin’ On’ and ‘You Came’, Kim believes she and Ricky have put together a set-list to please fans old and new.

Kim added: “Ricky and I sat down a few months back to decide on the initial list of songs, of course some choose themselves like Kids in America and You Came, but we have chosen a few rarely heard tracks from the past that we felt fitted in particularly well with the new material.

“Choosing songs from the new album was particularly hard as every track is so strong, and the reaction from the public for every single one of them has been incredible! Any tracks missing will certainly be re-visited in subsequent tours, so not to worry!”

Kim Wilde’s new album ’Here Comes The Aliens’ is out now on Wildeflower Records.

Tickets go on sale at 9am Friday March 30 via

James – who have sold more than 25 million records worldwide – have released 14 studio albums over the past 30 years which have gained both critical and commercial acclaim.

The band’s most recent release, 2016’s Girl at the End of the World – which includes such stunning songs as Nothing But Love, Girl At The End Of The World and Dear John – hit No.2 in the UK Album charts and became their most successful album in almost 20 years.

James’s enduring creativity and musical legacy has made them one of the most influential British indie bands of the last four decades. After signing to Factory Records in 1982, they went on to release a series of massive hit singles and have built a huge, loyal and fanatical fanbase.

This was in the days when a water-filled moat stood between the stage and the audience.

James’s Yorkshire-born lead singer Tim Booth said: “We’re looking forward to playing this lovely venue and very happy that there is no longer a moat to cross. My walking on the water training wasn’t going so well!”

The band’s Scarborough OAT show is presented by Cuffe and Taylor. Director Peter Taylor said: “James are rightly regarded as one of the most important and influential pioneers of the Manchester music scene since the 1980s.

“We have had so many people ask for us to bring them back to Scarborough OAT so we are delighted we have been able to add them to what is undoubtedly the biggest and best line up ever seen at Scarborough OAT.”

James join a fantastic line-up at Scarborough OAT this summer which includes Britney Spears, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Emeli Sandé, Lionel Richie, Pete Tong and the Heritage Orchestra’s Ibiza Classics, James Arthur, Texas, Nile Rodgers and CHIC, Bastille, Il Divo, Gary Barlow, The Script, Steps and Alfie Boe’s special Armed Force Day concert.

“Cuffe and Taylor does this exceptionally well with past successes including the record-selling 2016 Rod Stewart Hits Tour where we presented Rod at football clubs throughout the UK including far-flung locations such as Inverness and Kilmarnock who, until then, had not experienced many big-name stars.

“Last year we worked with some of the stately homes which are included in Summer House Sounds to present the sold-out Cliff Richard and Ball and Boe tours.

“We are returning to those destinations again this summer but with more artists and more dates to make a really special event for those locations and, of course, we are going to more stately homes and castles to create fantastic Summer House Sounds.”

Lancashire Cricket Star Honoured With His Own Beer To Celebrate Testimonial Year

By | Rhodes Media Blogs | No Comments

Award winning Lytham Brewery has come up with a special treat for cricket and real ale fans alike by honouring Lancashire star Steven Croft with his own beer.

Crofty’s pale ale has been specially brewed and launched to coincide with the former Old Trafford captain’s 2018 Testimonial Year.

Blackpool-born Steven – who in 2011 went down in Red Rose cricket folklore when he hit the winning runs to seal Lancashire’s first County Championship title in 77 years – has been heavily involved in the brewing process and specially selected the ingredients for his beer.

The result is a refreshing pale ale which is expected to be a real hit at pubs and cricket clubs this spring and summer.

And the great news is 5p from every pint will go to Steven’s Testimonial Year Fund which is raising money for two charities close to his heart – Blackpool’s Brian House Children’s Hospice and the Professional Cricketers Association’s Benevolent Fund.

Steven, who has played more than 450 times for Lancashire CCC and lives in Lytham, said: “I am really chuffed with the result and cannot thank Lytham Brewery enough for producing this wonderful ale for my Testimonial Year.

“It’s fair to say I’ve enjoyed the odd ale or two down the years, but to have my own beer is something I never imagined.

“Walking into a pub and seeing my face on a handpump is a bit bizarre, but it’s a cracking pint. Hopefully it’s a hit with real ale lovers and it helps raise a bit for my two Testimonial Year charities.”

Lytham Brewery has become a Fylde coast success story since launching in 2007, supplying award-winning ales to pubs across the UK.

Managing Director James Booker said: “We are delighted to be involved with Steven’s Testimonial Year. Steven’s a great lad, a great cricketer and we believe we have produced a cracking ale to celebrate his many achievements in the sport.

“Steven helped select all the ingredients. The result is a refreshing pale ale brewed using pilsner malt and combination of hops from around the world. The light delicate body makes this beer very smooth and clean, giving it a nice hoppy finish.

“It’s the perfect summer drink to enjoy during the cricket season.”

Crofty’s ale was launched at his local pub – The Taps in Lytham – and went down a storm with locals. It is now available for order by pubs, bars and sports clubs across the UK.

Steve Norris, licensee of The Taps, said: “It’s a great drop – a perfect drink now the weather is getting warmer and the cricket season is almost upon us.

“Steven such a nice lad, his Testimonial Year is thoroughly well deserved, and we hope real ale fans support his wonderful charities by ordering a few pints of Crofty’s!”

Steven is hosting many events throughout his Testimonial Year. For more information visit his Facebook page @stevencrofttestimonial2018. If you are interested in sponsoring his Testimonial Year, or have any enquiries, you can contact the organisers by emailing

If you are a licensed venue and would like to order Crofty’s ale contact Lytham Brewery by emailing or by calling (01253) 725440.
