By Rhodes Media BlogsNo Comments

Double platinum and BRIT award-winning artist Paloma Faith will head to North Wales next summer as part of her The Glorification Of Sadness Tour 2024.
The 26-date UK tour will see the British superstar headline at Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod on Friday June 21.
Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday October 20 from llangollen.net and ticketmaster.co.uk

The announcement comes as Paloma has released her first single in three years, How You Leave A Man, and as she unveils her sixth studio album The Glorification of Sadness which is released February 16 – her first new music since the release of fifth studio album Infinite Things in November 2020.

The trip to Llangollen will see Paloma perform an array of hits from her extensive and much-loved repertoire with fans singing along to classics such as Only Love Can Hurt Like This and Lullaby as well as new songs from The Glorification of Sadness
The headlining show is presented in a new partnership between Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod and Live Nation promoters Cuffe and Taylor and marks the second announcement for 2024.

Last week it was revealed indie superstars Manic Street Preachers and Suede will play a double headlining show at the iconic peace festival on Friday June 28. Tickets for that show go on sale this Friday (Oct 13) at 9am.

Cuffe and Taylor co-founder Peter Taylor said: “What an incredible second announcement to be making for the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. Paloma Faith is without doubt a superstar who presents the most breathtaking concerts and we can’t wait to bring her to Llangollen.

“We’re very excited to be working alongside the team at this incredible peace festival and look forward to making more announcements soon.”

Chair of Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod Sarah Ecob added: “We promised to reach for the stars with our brilliant new partnership with Cuffe and Taylor and we are delighted that another huge star, Paloma Faith will be joining us in 2024.

MANIC STREET PREACHERS & SUEDE TO HEADLINE LLANGOLLEN INTERNATIONAL MUSICAL EISTEDDFOD

By Rhodes Media BlogsNo Comments

Manic Street Preachers and Suede are to headline a very special show in North Wales next summer.

The double headlining show will see the indie music legends head to Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod on Friday June 28 for the first date in their UK and Ireland tour.

It marks a triumphant return for the Manic Street Preachers to Llangollen after they last headlined at the festival in 2017.

Tickets go on general sale at 9am on Friday October 13 from llangollen.net and ticketmaster.co.uk

Manic Street Preachers are one of the most influential and iconic rock bands to have come out of Wales. They have gone on to release 14 studio albums and have headlined countless festivals including Glastonbury, T in the Park, V Festival and Reading & Leeds. They have won eleven NME Awards, eight Q Awards and four BRIT Awards and were also nominated for the Mercury Prize and the MTV Europe Music Awards.

Manics are currently working on their 15th studio album, the follow up to ‘The Ultra Vivid Lament’ which entered the UK charts at No. 1 on its release in September 2021. They last performed in the UK this summer when they made critically acclaimed performances at Isle of Wight and Glastonbury festivals.

The news of the tour meets huge demand surrounding the success of Suede’s ninth studio album Autofiction, and their entirely sold-out UK headline tour earlier this year. Debuting at #2 in the UK Albums Chart, the release marked Suede’s highest charting LP since 1999’s Head Music. The new album has been received as a career peak by fans and critics alike.

2023 has seen the release of Suede30 – timely reminder of how the band’s debut album had such a powerful and transformative effect on British music from the outset. Suede’s eponymous debut shot to #1 in the UK Album Charts upon its release selling over 100,000 copies in its first week, winning the prestigious Mercury Music Prize and becoming the fastest-selling debut album ever in the UK at that time.

Suede and the Manic Street Preachers’ Llangollen show is part of a UK and Ireland tour that follows a sold out 2022 US tour that saw both bands greeted with a fantastic reception.

The headlining show is presented in a new partnership between Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod and Live Nation promoters Cuffe and Taylor.

Cuffe and Taylor, one of the UK’s top live music, theatre and event promoters, are partnering with the International Eisteddfod to promote a series of live concerts in conjunction with the world-famous peace festival.

Cuffe and Taylor co-founder Peter Taylor said: “We have presented countless shows in Wales over the years so it is great to be forming a new and very exciting relationship with the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod team.

“We will be working together to bring global stars and look forward to working alongside everyone in Llangollen helping secure the future of this historic event.

“I am delighted our first announcement is that we are bringing the Manic Street Preachers and Suede to Llangollen and we will be revealing even more big name artists very soon.”

Cuffe and Taylor present breath-taking tours, festivals and shows across the UK filling football stadiums, arenas, theatres and major historical sites working with a roster of artists ranging from Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, Britney Spears and Stereophonics to Sir Tom Jones, Rod Stewart, Sam Fender, The Strokes and Kylie.

Chair of Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod Sarah Ecob said: “We are so pleased to be working with Cuffe and Taylor, who have an outstanding reputation in the industry. By working in partnership with them, we have ensured that our peace festival set up in 1947 not only survives, but thrives. We are so excited to welcome back the Manic Street Preachers and can’t wait to make more announcements over the coming days and weeks.”

Status Quo are the first headliners to be announced for Scarborough OAT’s 2024 season – following this summer’s record breaking series of shows.

FESTIVAL’S CASH BOOST TO LYTHAM LIFESAVERS

By Rhodes Media BlogsNo Comments

Lytham’s life-saving RNLI has received a cash boost thanks to Lancashire’s largest music festival.

In addition to donating thousands of pounds worth of tickets to the charity each year, Lytham Festival bosses have gifted a cheque for £1,500.

Festival Director of Operations Joe Robinson attended the official Lytham St Annes RNLI Open day on Saturday to see the work being undertaken by the service as well as meet with key personnel.

Festival co-founder Peter Taylor said: “As coastal residents we all know and value the incredible work of the RNLI. In Lytham they are our closest neighbours during Lytham Festival. This means they do have to close their shop during the event which affects their income. We enormously appreciate their support of the festival which is why we are always to happy to help them where we can.

“As a thank you each year we provide the RNLI locally with several thousand pounds worth of tickets that they can use for fundraising and this year I am delighted we are also able to make a cash donation for £1,500.”

Lytham St Annes RNLI Coxswain Mechanic Tom Stuart added: “We are very grateful for this donation. Lytham Festival has very kindly given us the opportunity to fundraise from the very early days of the event and we look forward to continuing this into the future, particularly as next year is the 200th anniversary of the RNLI.”

Lytham Festival returns from Wednesday 03 to Saturday 07 July 2024.

RUGBY WORLD CUP WINNERS REUNITE FOR A ONE NIGHT ONLY EXCLUSIVE

By Rhodes Media BlogsNo Comments

Rugby fans across the country will remember exactly where they were the moment Jonny Wilkinson kicked a last-minute drop goal to secure England Rugby’s first ever Rugby World Cup victory.

And on Wednesday November 22 – exactly 20 years to the day of that dramatic final – all 31 members of England Rugby’s 2003 Rugby World Cup squad will reunite for the first time, to look back on the campaign and share their own personal highlights and memories.

The exclusive one-night-only event World Cup Winners: The 2003 England Rugby Squad Reunion, at the Eventim Apollo Hammersmith, will see all the England Rugby heroes, led by captain Martin Johnson, back together for the very first time since their Homecoming Parade and Reception with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, as they tell the story behind that incredible victory.

Tickets will go on general sale at 10am Friday August 04 from www.cuffeandtaylor.com

The 2003 Rugby World Cup final, played at Stadium Australia in Sydney, was won in dramatic fashion when – with just 28 seconds remaining on the clock at the end of extra time – Jonny Wilkinson kicked England to a 20-17 lead to beat the Aussies in their own backyard.

Recalling the greatest moment in the history of English rugby with members of the squad stood alongside him, captain Martin Johnson said: “Twenty years ago we as an England Squad had a life changing experience in winning the Rugby World Cup for our country.

“It’s fantastic to get the opportunity for all 31 of us to reunite in the same room together to celebrate our achievement. When you’re all together you have that feeling you had then. It was special that group.”

The reunion will give fans the opportunity to hear live first-hand experiences of the personal stories of brilliant individuals coming together and learn how they played their own crucial role within the squad to win the Rugby World Cup for their country.

The squad will reflect on the incredible team bond and psychology of winning to becoming the best in the world when it mattered most, while also sharing the funniest moments and behind-the-scenes stories of what happened before, during and after their famous Rugby World Cup Win.

Hosting the event will be former England international, TV Presenter and stalwart of Rugby World Cup coverage, Martin Bayfield.

Rugby Football Union CEO, Bill Sweeney, said: “It’s hard to imagine a sports fan anywhere who doesn’t have the 2003 Rugby World Cup win etched firmly in their memory.

“As the first time the entire team has been together since that win, this really will be a unique event and we wish each and every one of our former players all the best for the anniversary event.”

World Cup Winners: The 2003 England Rugby Squad Reunion is presented by Cuffe and Taylor.

Director of Theatre Touring Ben Hatton said: “Those final seconds of the 2003 Rugby World Cup made for a classic moment in sporting history, and we are delighted to offer fans a chance to relive some of the magic created by the 31-member squad. This is going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity for rugby fans to celebrate their heroes and share in the nostalgia, so don’t miss out.”
