Tickets are on sale now from www.ents24.com/uk/tour-dates/james-haskell

One of rugby’s most ferocious flankers and biggest characters, James Haskell has had an extraordinary global experience of the game and has boatloads to say about rugby life – littered with hilarious and often outrageous personal anecdotes…. from pitch to pub and everywhere in between.

The James Haskell Show sheds fresh light on the dynamics and day-to-day experiences of the game and will cover his journey to every league in the world, France, Japan and New Zealand. Behind the iron curtain of England, what really went on, the good the terrible and the downright funny.

Speaking about The James Haskell Show, James said: “This presents a really exciting opportunity for me. As everyone knows, I’m brutally honest and I enjoy a bit of a laugh.

“I’ve had some incredible experiences both on and off the pitch, so I thought it was time I shared my stories with the greater public. I can assure you this is going to be a fun night out.”

Since quitting the game, James has enjoyed an exciting and extensive career which has seen him join forces with fellow former rugby star Mike Tindall and TV sports presenter and broadcaster Alex Payne for the number one podcast The Good, The Bad and The Rugby, he has launched his own What A Flanker podcast and is the author of the bestselling book of the same name.

Presented by Nigel McIntyre and Gareth Watson, The James Haskell Show will tour:

BAND HUNT FOR HOUSEMATE WITH NEW SINGLE ‘SPARE ROOM’

By Rhodes Media BlogsNo Comments

Your favourite 21st century yacht-rockers HEIR are back with fuzzy-guitar riffs, glossy vocal harmonies and a refreshed sense of identity.

It is thanks to the Leeds quintet’s keen songwriting sensibility and infectious live energy that their journey pre-pandemic took them to Abbey Road studios with producer Ken Scott (The Beatles, David Bowie, Elton John), sold out shows at Camden Assembly (London) and Yes (Manchester) and more than a million streams of their tunes.

Now with a year and a half of reflective hibernation, lots of recording, ventures into other projects and distance from social media, Heir return feeling reinvigorated and raring to go.

And new single ‘Spare Room’ is released to the world on Wednesday October 13. Check out the video HERE

“I think we’ve used the time to be a lot more honest with ourselves about the kind of music we want to write,” said keyboardist Sam Perry.

“We’ve always admired the artists who manage to throw a party just by sounding like a band in a room – Prince, Fleetwood Mac, WHAM!, Steely Dan. We love this crossover world of 70s/80s pop songwriting that’s rooted in acoustic sounds but given a glamorous and mysterious quality by the guitar and synth work”.

Spare Room is plucked from the back catalogue of the Heir songbook, written by Sam, Tom Hammond (vocals/guitar) and Ste Fisher (guitar) during a period where the trio shared a house together.

Sam explained: “We’d reached the final day of a writing retreat in Northumberland, having exhausted all the deep and emotional ideas. Ste had been keeping us in the loop all week with the messages of both promise and disappointment that he’d been receiving to his Spare Room account from potential new housemates.

“He suggested we make a musical advert. Maybe we weren’t out of deep and emotional content after all and we were actually just mourning all the ones that got away!.”

As well as subconscious therapy via advert writing the song also proved to be a creative launchpad for the band mid-lockdown, helping the group find purpose and focus amidst the absence of live music.

“We were a little stunned, wondering how we were going to stay afloat as a band without gigging.” Tom said. “The video for Spare Room was sitting in the archives and, after re-watching it, it struck us how simple and true it felt.

“It became the blueprint for how we wanted to present ourselves and inspired us to produce a batch of some newly written songs, focusing on this ethos of squeezing more out of less and tapping back into the band in the room side to our sound that perhaps we’d lost touch with a little.”

Heir have recently come off another summer writing trip and boast of finding their truest sound yet – imagine someone gave Eagles synthesisers and Whitney Houston T-shirts and said throw us an all-night party!

The comeback starts however with the song that reminded the boys that before anything else they are five friends with five instruments who love playing songs together. As for the original spare room, both that room and a second room were filled and to this day Coral and Jen remain very good friends of all members of the band.

To celebrate the release of their new single Heir will be heading out on a mini-tour, performing in secret, quirky spaces around the UK.

November 18th – Leeds
November 19th – London
November (date tbc) – Manchester

Tickets and venue information available at www.heirtheband.com from Friday October 15

Shamrock Tenors Host St Patrick’s Day Spectacular In Birmingham

By Rhodes Media BlogsNo Comments

They have wowed audiences around the world – now Shamrock Tenors are heading to Birmingham for an unmissable St Patrick’s Day celebration.
Northern Ireland’s premier folk and vocal group play a headline show at Birmingham Symphony Hall on Thursday March 17.

Tickets for this one night only spectacular go on sale at 8am on Friday October 1 via www.cuffeandtaylor.com

Hailing from Ulster, this cross-community group features some of the country’s most exciting new musical talent who have not only featured in West End shows but won Irish dance championships across the world.

Formed in 2018, the group – whose line-up is Lisburn-born brothers Jack and Raymond Walsh and good friends Jamie Johnston, Matt Good and new recruit Matthew Campbell – have performed to audiences across four continents and won rave reviews wherever they play.

Their debut single, a cover of the iconic song Grace, went to Number 1 on the iTunes World Music Charts in June 2020 and their videos have amassed more than one million online views in the last year alone.

The band’s special concert at Belfast’s Ulster Hall, filmed during lockdown, has also been picked up by major streaming sites across the world.

Shamrock Tenors are on a mission to bring their favourite traditional Irish songs to a modern and worldwide audience.

So, Birmingham, put on your dancing shoes, grab yourself a drink and get ready for a night not to be missed in a city famed for its strong Irish community and historic links to the Emerald Isle.

Birmingham has the UK’s only Irish Quarter, centred in Digbeth, and the city’s annual St Patrick’s Day Parade attracts more than 100,000 visitors. It is believed to be the third largest St Patrick’s Day Parade in the world, after those in New York and Dublin.

Shamrock Tenors will treat the audience at Birmingham Symphony Hall to a stunning and eclectic mix of songs including classics Will Ye Go Lassie Go, Whiskey in the Jar and Wild Rover, to more modern hits by artists such as Van Morrison and U2.

Raymond Walsh, who starred in Les Misérables on London’s West End, says the band cannot wait to return to the stage in the UK.

He said: “Last St Patrick’s Day we were performing a show via live stream from Dublin. It is going to be such a good feeling to get back on stage in front of a live theatre audience again.

“Birmingham Symphony Hall is a beautiful venue and we are looking forward to bringing a similarly beautiful collection of the most beloved Irish folk songs ever written to this wonderful city. It’s going to be a St Patrick’s Day to remember – and one we cannot wait for!”

Together with building an impressive online and live following, Shamrock Tenors have appeared on many TV shows. Earlier this year, they were chosen by Tourism Ireland to feature in a new promotion championing Belfast and Northern Ireland.

The band’s beautiful rendition of singer-songwriter Alex Quinn’s captivating song Belfast featured Normal People star and Lisburn-born actor Desmond Eastwood in the video together with many of Northern Ireland’s most iconic places.

Tickets for Shamrock Tenors at Birmingham Symphony Hall go on sale at 8am on Friday September 24 via www.cuffeandtaylor.com

Two Dates Added To Bruce Dickinson’s Spoken Word Tour

By Rhodes Media BlogsNo Comments

Live Nation today announces two new additional dates on Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson’s first ever UK spoken word 2021 tour ‘An Evening With Bruce Dickinson’:

December 9 Liverpool Philharmonic Hall
December 10 Edinburgh Usher Hall

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Wednesday September 29 via ticketmaster.co.uk

These extra dates follow on from the six shows of the August 2021 tour, the final two of which had to be rescheduled due to Bruce’s quarantining further to a member of his household testing positive for Covid-19. These shows will now take place on October 16 at London’s 02 Shepherd’s Bush Empire and October 17 at The Alexandra in Birmingham (all tickets for original dates remain valid).

The Liverpool and Edinburgh December 2021 shows will be the final dates for this tour and no further shows will be added in 2021.

Bruce Dickinson is considered one of the world’s most storied musicians. Aside from decades spent delivering high-octane performances with his larger-than-life persona in Iron Maiden, Bruce has lived an extraordinary off-stage existence too.

A true polymath, his accomplishments include pilot and airline captain, aviation entrepreneur, beer brewer, motivational speaker, film scriptwriter, twice-published novelist and Sunday Times best-selling author, radio presenter, TV actor, sports commentator and international fencer… to name but a few.

So, there’s plenty to be entertained by, throughout the evening’s cornucopia of fascinating tales and derring-do exploits, all delivered by Bruce with characteristically infectious enthusiasm and wry wit.

Split into two parts, the first section of the show sees Bruce taking a humorous and often satirical look at the world from his own very personal perspective, treating the audience to private insights into his drive and ambition, peppered with plenty of Maiden anecdotes, and a myriad of other experiences encompassing not just the giddy heights but also the extreme lows, as told first-hand in his inimitable anarchic style, punctuated with photographs, videos and sometimes even erupting into song a-capella, to illustrate a point.

The final section of the evening is devoted entirely to a Q&A session, with the opportunity to pose questions on any subject whatsoever. As Bruce’s answers will all be completely improvised – the more left-field and quirky the question, the more interesting and compelling the response is likely to be!

Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to spend an up-close and personal evening with one of the world’s most captivating icons in an intimate environment, as Bruce Dickinson brings his Evening With show to the UK for the very first time, where you are guaranteed a highly entertaining and enjoyable night out and may even go home inspired to try something new.

My music is all about feeling good, and having seen Marisha perform, I know that is what she does too – so it’s going to be a fantastic night of music to put a smile on people’s faces.”

Although her debut UK tour was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic, that’s not held Marisha back – with the past year seeing her signed to Decca Records, releasing her debut album Tomorrow, and wowing new audiences with performances on Strictly Come Dancing, the Festival of Remembrance and the Royal Variety Performance. She also appeared in the hit Netflix show Feel Good alongside Mae Martin and Lisa Kudrow.

Marisha returned to the West End stage in the spring in the musical Hairspray, as Motormouth Maybelle, where she’s been winning nightly standing ovations for her outstanding performances.

From growing up on a farm in North Carolina, Marisha Wallace has gone on to Broadway and the West End, starring in huge hit musicals including Dreamgirls, Waitress, Aladdin and The Book of Mormon.
